The celebration was held in conjunction with the East Bridge Art and Music Festival. It's an event aimed at reintroducing people to downtown Owensboro and the city's re-emerging cultural scene.

People had the chance to listen to live music, check out downtown shops, and walk across one of Owensboro's most iconic structures, the Blue Bridge.

"Words can't describe it. Especially to be on the forefront of an up-and-coming art scene, it's magical," said Katherine Taylor of Studio Slant, a downtown shop. "I see it just getting bigger and better, with more restaurants, more stores down here, you know, we're all working together."

The city hopes to take the success of Bridge Day and make it an annual event. That and the Art and Music Festival brought thousands into downtown.
