One Western Kentucky town is calling for an end to blaring train horns. The Madisonville City Council wants to create a quiet zone for trains as they pass through town. Residents say the horns blow constantly day and night. The city council says complaints are what prompted the idea of a quiet zone. Earlier this week, the council passed a resolution to proceed with making this idea a reality. Railroad officials say engineers blow the whistle for safety reasons, but City Councilman Raymond Marion says trains in his town aren't following the rules of when to sound the whistles. Tammy Duggar lives yards away from these tracks and says the overpowering freight cars have a presence throughout the city. Jenny Gibsbon says the whistles are affecting more than just a good night's rest. The solution, the city has contacted CSX and plans to look for funding for better crossing gates, to make sure drivers and pedestrians are safe. If the city puts up double gates, what it calls a safety zone, it says the chances for accidents will decrease, and many say so will the sleepless nights. The city says this process is in the very early stages, the double crossing gates that many would like to install cost $100,000 a piece, and there are eight intersections that would need them. The city says its working on getting the funding.

They do this for safety. I just recently started living near a track and I am already used to it. Complain complain complain that is all anyone is good at doing these days.

What else are idoits going to complaine about,,I was brought up with trains,,They blow their horns so people wont be on the tracks when they go thru
