Henderson police say a man is dead after being struck by a train. CSX officials say 51 year old Charles Damrath was lying on the train tracks near the 1600 block of Clay Street just after midnight. Engineers say they spotted Damrath and immediately began braking and sounding the horn, but couldn't stop in time. CSX says the freight train was on its way to Jacksonville, Florida from Chicago when the accident happened. Afterwards, officials say the train stopped and waited for a few hours as police and emergency services arrived. Damrath was pronounced dead at the scene. The tracks re-opened around 4:30 Sunday morning. The Henderson County Coroner's Office says Damrath's body is heading to Louisville for an autopsy, but say this is being treated as a death investigation and they do not believe any foul play is involved. Police say Damrath is from the area and was on his way home. No word yet on whether alcohol or drugs played a factor.
