Henderson County Sheriff's Deputies say an off-duty officer, Jennifer Richmond, pulled over at US 41-A and Collier Road around 4:30 Sunday morning to check out an abandoned Cadillac in a ditch.
Deputies say some strangers also stopped to help her pull the car out, when an oncoming vehicle rounded the curve, hitting one man's pickup which then hit the Cadillac.
Richmond saw the car in time and pushed the driver of the pickup out of the way, saving him from harm.
One man was hit by the Cadillac, but had only minor injuries. The driver of the other vehicle, Dakota Paul, was arrested for driving while intoxicated. He's being held in the Henderson County Detention Center.
