A major issue the Tri-State continues to face was also discussed during tonight's debate. One undecided voter asked where do the candidates stand on the proposed coal to natural gas power plant in Rockport, Indiana. Several residents have voiced their concerns about possible threats to the public environment and higher electric bills. Pence responded that Indiana's low-cost energy is a great asset in attracting out-of-state investment.

"The state has a contract in place," said Pence. "I would not use any authority as governor to overturn that. But if voices in the legislature wanted to revisit that and discuss that, I would have a willing ear to do both those who support it and those that oppose it but will put rate payers and tax payers first."

Both Gregg and Boneham stressed the importance of energy in the Hoosier State, but neither directly commented on the proposed Rockport plant.
