Drake (4-19, 3-9 MVC) outhit Evansville (8-18, 3-10 MVC) by a .194-.099 margin while four Bulldogs had double-digit kills, led by Bentley Mancini, who tallied 12.
Set one saw the Aces reel off four of the opening five points before the Bulldogs fought back to tie it up at 5-5. Drake would later take a 14-11 lead before UE rebounded to take a 15-14 advantage thanks to a pair of errors by the opposition.
The back-and-forth action continued as the score would be tied at each point from 15 through 20, but the Bulldogs were clutch when it mattered most, finishing the game on a 5-1 run as an Amanda Platte kill gave DU a 1-0 lead.
Frame number two was a dominant one for the home team as the Bulldogs as they took a quick 6-1 lead. Their advantage held strong as UE fought back within three at 23-20 before a UE error put Drake up 2-0 on the night.
Drake finished the night with a 25-22 win in the third set to take the victory. With the score knotted at 7-7, the Bulldogs notched three in a row as their lead would not go below two as they cruised to the sweep.
Up next are the final three home games of the season for the Aces as they open up the stretch on Friday evening at 7 p.m. versus Southern Illinois. The home season wraps up a week later as Bradley and Northern Iowa will travel to the Carson Center.
