Patriot Coal Continues Shut Down of Henderson Operations

Dozens of jobs may soon be lost as a coal company continues to shut down operations in Henderson County.

Patriot Coal Corporation says it's closing the Bluegrass Mine complex, near Henderson, by the end of this year.

According to a statement from the company, the complex employs 89 people, and should produce about 1-point-2 million tons of thermal coal in 2012.

Back in April, the company announced it was shutting down the Freedom Mine in Henderson, leaving more than 150 people without a job.

The company cites a continued weakness in market demand.
