Updated: November 12, 2012
On the same day as the NCAA announced it's bringing the 2014 Division II Elite Eight Tournament to Evansville's Ford Center, center executives announced the venue is up for an award from Pollstar Magazine.

Fresh of its first anniversary, the Ford Center has been nominated as Best New Major Concert Venue.

"We are honored to receive the nomination by our peers in this industry, " Ford Center Executive Director Scott Schoenike said. "Our staff has worked very hard throughout these past months to provide top-notch entertainment and service in every area of our facility. I believe the nomination re-affirms a phenomenal opening year, made possible by the support of the City of Evansville and many area residents. We are excited that this nomination has brought more national attention to Evansville."

Other venues nominated for the award are Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY, Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY, The Fillmore Silver Spring in Silver Spring, MD and the Smith Center For the Performing Arts in Las Vegas, NV.

The winner will be announced on February 7th, 2013 in Los Angeles.
