A big supporter for the new route is Indiana Senator Vaneta Becker. She's been in office more than 30 years and says this project has been an issue for about 50 years. Becker says she gives credit to those past and present who played in role in today's progress.

"I do have to give an applaud to Frank O'Bannon," said Becker, "because he did pick the route. The former governor but there were others before him who talked about it but never went anywhere. It was talk, and I think there are a lot of people here today who thought it would never be before their death, so I am just thrilled."

Becker says Hoosier jobs and education will continue to improve thanks to the growing interstate.
