Officials with the Indiana Prevention Resource Center say an old drug is making a comeback. The center is warning parents about teens using heroin, saying just over 2 percent of high school seniors in the Hoosier State have used the drug. That's 50 percent higher than the national average and a 600 percent increase over the past few years.

The Director of the Indiana Youth Institute says the use is on the rise because it is easier to obtain. He also says the problem may begin with prescription drugs at home.

"A good prevention," said Bill Stanczykiewicz, "the best prevention is to have open communication with your kids. Talk to them about what they're hearing at school and seeing out in society and hearing amongst their friends and even the temptaions they might have or you might have or had as a kid. That open communication is the best way to prevent this."

He also says if you think your teen needs help, it's best to keep your cool when talking to them.
