One animal group is stepping in to make sure at least one dog won't be put down this holiday season.

Bullie Nation, a rescue group based in Evansville, is dedicated to finding loving homes for dogs that have been previously mistreated. Officials say a pair of dog owners surrendered this dog, Shadow, to Evansville Animal Control on Thursday. They say they could no long care for it. Bullie Nation says they can't just sit back and watch as animals are put down due to overcrowding in shelters. The dog will be nursed back to health, then Bullie Nation will try and place it in a forever home.
