Officials say in 2012, the airport surpassed 30-thousand passengers. Airport Director, Bob Whitmer says, the increase in passengers is thanks to several factors, including help from the city and county, the expansion of the terminal, an expanded runway, and a lot of flights from Allegiant and Cape Air.
Back in August, Allegiant Air stopped flights from Owensboro to Las Vegas. Whitmer says he's hopeful if the number of passengers increases, the airport may be able to work out a deal to get seasonal flights to sin city.
