Many residents of Pleasant Ridge Mobile Home Park just off Bergdolt Road heard the big bang and were among the first to call 911. Possibly hundreds of people from Northeast Evansville to Spencer County were woken up to the strange noise just before midnight.
We've spoken to Evansville Police, Sheriff., and Fire Departments, but no one there has an answer for what may have happened. There are lots of theories surround this big bang. Some think it that it could have been blasts from a coal mine north of Evansville, others believe a tansformer may have exploded, while others say it could have been a sonic boom, which is one theory airport officials aren't ruling out but can't confirm either..
Adding more mystique to the mystery, several other tv stations across the country are also reporting similar unexplained noises within the past week.
