At least one Owensboro city commissioner is not happy with the quick decision to purchase the Executive Inn property. This comes after a twenty minute commission meeting to finalize the sale and budget amendments. Commissioners met at noon to take their formal vote to approve the purchase. Commissioner Charlie Castlen was the only one to vote no. He says the property should be available to the private sector and the governments place is to take care of everyday matters. He also questions the citys fast action saying, " Take a look at this economy, see the dow go down, unemployment go up, none of these things are postive and it seems like each day things are worse. The federal government is very concerned with where our economy is going most businesses are doing all they can to hold on during this rough time and I look at us and I say wow." City leaders say they dont know what theyll do with the property nor the things still inside the hotel.
