A Henderson County school remains on lockdown, after an attempted burglary, that ended with a homeowner taking a shot at the suspect.

It happened in the 13-thousand block of U.S. 41 Alternate around 9:00 Tuesday morning.

According to deputies, Bryant Kincade was heading to bed after working a third shift, when he heard a noise upstairs.  They say he confronted a man in his hallway, and at one point, fired his shotgun at the suspect.

Deputies say the would-be burglar was not injured, but was able to escape and is still on the run.  He may be driving a silver Chevy truck with tinted windows.

As the investigation and search continues, Cairo Elementary, which is less than two miles from the scene, remains on lockdown.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact the Henderson County Sheriff's Department at 270-826-2713.

We will continue to follow the situation and bring you new information as it becomes available.
