Old Hickory Wins Barbecue Pitmaster Competition

An Owensboro restaurant earns the title "best barbecue in the state of Kentucky." Old Hickory Bar-B-Q is named the Kentucky regional winner of the Barbecue Pitmasters Cook-Off on TLC. The competition was held in October at Munfordville, Kentucky's Annual Big Buffalo Crossing Barbecue Cook-Off. Competitors are judged on two Kentucky barbecue favorites: mutton and fresh bone-in ham. Old Hickory's owner says winning the competition should create even more business for the restaurant.
"Just validation," said Old Hickory Bar-B-Q Owner John Foreman. "Just shows Owensboro is the barbecue capital of the world. It give us a lot of recognition. It shows Old Hickory is the top of our area."
Foreman says the restaurant has been in his family for five generations since his great-great-grandfather opened it in 1918.
