Big Rivers Rate Increase will Remain

A controversial electric rate increase in western Kentucky will stand. The Kentucky Public Service Commission re-affirmed its 2011 decision, which raises rates for Big Rivers customers about six percent. The rate adjustment also shifts some of the burden of the increase away from large industrial customers like Century Aluminum and Alcan to residential customers. Big Rivers has another pending rate increase that could cause rates to go up another $20 a month.
