A dispute over electric rates could cause another Kentucky plant to close.

Rio Tinto Alcan will end its deal with electricity suppliers Kenergy and Big Rivers for its Sebree aluminum smelter

This follows a similar annoucement by Century Aluminum last August.  Nearly 500 people will be out of work at the aluminum smelter if a new electricity supplier isn't found.  Residents who have family and friends working at the plant say they're worried about what could happen to them and the town next year.

"They've been working on the job, and it's all they know.  They're going to be hurting," says Noah Hensley, who has family and friends that work at the facility.

Kenergy President and CEO Greg Starheim says they were disappointed about getting the notice.  But he is hopeful a solution all sides can agree to can be reached.
