Owensboro's Plan to Get Stimulus Money

By: Sarah Lovett
Updated: February 28, 2009
Owensboro and Daviess County leaders are mobilizing to fight for their share of the Presidents stimulus package. They joined with area agencies to come up with a system to show Frankfort a united front. Typically local agencies independently lobby with lawmakers to get funding, but local government is asking all local organizations wanting funding to run it past the Green River Area Development District first. This way, officials say everyone will act in the communitys best interest so as not to waste Frankforts time and prove they need the money. Some of the areas priorities include the US-60 bypass extension, adult education classes, and home weatherization.
