It appears Kentucky ice storm victims hoping to get individual assistance could be out of luck. Officials say the state doesnt qualify because theres simply not enough individual damage.
Public problems, like infrastructure repair and debris removal, will receive federal dollars, but homeowners wont be seeing any of that money. This includes reimbursement for generators and spoiled food.
The governor will only ask Washington for individual assistance if he believes there is no way the state can recover on its own. Typically its disasters like tornados and hurricanes that warrant individual assistance.
The governor will release an official statement about the decision later this week.
