In his latest offering, Trophies and Tears: The Story of Evansville and The Aces, Kyle Keiderling, award-winning sports biographer has produced a richly detailed, fast paced look at "the best small college basketball team in America," and the city that embraced them. Keiderling talked to Local 7 Lifestyles about the book.

Keiderling will be signing books Saturday, March 2 from 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. and before University of Evansville game at the Ford Center.

The Evansville Purple Aces accumulated more NCAA College Division Championship trophies than any other school and set attendance records that stood for nearly half a century. They were coached by Hall of Fame inductee Arad McCuthchan and produced scores of All- America players while taking on- and usually defeating- the major basketball powers. The Aces were inextricably bound through the years to the city and when tragedy took the team on Dec. 13, 1977 the loss was felt throughout the tri-state area. The remarkable comeback by the Aces to make the NCAA Tournament field just four seasons later is one of the sport's most remarkable accomplishments. Trophies And Tears is the first look behind the headlines at a unique college basketball team that gave the city a long sought identity. Together they shared Trophies and Tears.
