The Governor says it could be too expensive, but a Western Kentucky representative says it could keep kids in school. Its a bill raising the drop out age from sixteen to eighteen. The goal is to raise the drop out age to lower the drop out rate. Critics say this could cost taxpayers more because theyd pay for students who otherwise wouldnt be in the school system.
The Daviess County School System has a program administrators say the rest of the state could follow as a different option. Its offering alternative education opportunities -- like daycare and night courses. Right now, beacon high is the only school in the area to offer these programs.
