Eventually, it'll be torn down. But for now, city leaders still need to wait for the findings of an environmental study to know what steps to take next when it comes to tearing down the Swanson Nunn Building. You may remember a few years ago vapors coming from that property forces a nearby day care center to close. For several years, the city has wanted to tear down the property but because of what was once stored there, experts have to weigh in on a plan of action. Today, the money to do so is approved.

"It's been an eye sore for the city for quite some time now," said President of the Board of Public Works Bill Nix. "The process we're implementing now will start the actual demolition of the building sometime, but it's a good thing for downtown to move this thing forward."

We're told the environmental study could wrap up by July. Officials will then have a better idea of when the building could come down.
