Updated: May 15, 2009
Governor Steve Beshear says he doesnt know if expanded gambling will find its way onto his agenda at next months special session. However, the Governor did say he is concerned about the horse industry after Thursdays meeting with House Speaker Greg Stumbo and Speaker Pro Tem Larry Clark. The Kentucky Horse Racing Commission deleted 7 race days at Churchill Downs earlier this week, due to lack of competitors. Ellis Parks owner Ron Geary says he hasnt made enough and had to cut the number of days in this summers meet by half. Other states using expanded gambling are being blamed for the downturn.
