Things could soon be "taking-off" for the Owensboro-Daviess County Regional Airport. But officials are being cautiously optimistic. Bids for another commercial airline service out of the airport are due to the FAA Friday night. After success with the airports lone airline, officials said theyre prepared for more flights. Allegiant Air began non-stop service to Orlando in February. Airport manager Bob Whitmer said several small airlines have expressed interest, but no bids have been confirmed. "Investing and finding investors for the aircraft and with the economy the way it is and the fuel unknown been told many are skeptical and may not bid at all well just have to see," said Whitmer. If an airline is chosen to fly through Owensboro, it will likely be one that only takes passengers to and from a major hub like Cincinnati or Atlanta.
