Apollo stays alive and Otters win in front of 7,000 plus

The Apollo Eagles staved off elimination Thursday night with a 6-3 win over Henderson County. The Eagles victory evens the best-of-three semi-state series and sets up a winner-takes-all game three Friday night at Muhlenberg South High School. Apollo jumped out to a 2-0 lead and held off a late Colonel rally to take game two. Eagles senior left-hander Skyler Shown went the distance on the mound. Henderson County won game one 5-1 on Wednesday night. Fridays winner advances to the Kentucky State Tournament at Applebees Park in Lexington and will play Heath next Thursday night at 7:30. --- The Evansville Otters snapped a four-game losing skid on Thursday night with a 7-2 win over Southern Illinois at Bosse Field. 7,203 fans made their way to the ballpark on "Thirsty Thursday." Thats the second highest total in franchise history.
