EVSC Approves Textbook Rental Payment Options Parents of students enrolled in the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation this year will have options for payment of textbook rental fees through Old National Bank. Elementary schools (except Lincoln) and all middle schools will participate and parents will have the option of making their payments at any Old National Bank branch in Vanderburgh County; mailing in their payment by check or money order to Old National Bank, P.O. Box 267, Evansville, IN 47702-0267; or pay directly at the school. Parents choosing to pay through Old National Bank must have their invoice stub accompanying their payment. At the high school level, Reitz High School and North High School will pilot the program this year. "Hopefully this program will give parents more payment options and alleviate some of the bottleneck that occurs at the beginning of every school year," Conway said. This also is seen as a good check and balance system for funds received and provides stronger internal controls. Conway said payments that are made through Old National Bank, will enter the EVSC accounts sooner than in the past. Each book barcode will correspond to a student in the system and will be easily trackable online - essentially checking the books out to students much like library materials are checked out. Patrick Hope, book fund manager, said this is important because in the past thousands of dollars of textbooks often went unaccounted for at the end of the year and there was no adequate proof of who had a book. If books go missing now, the EVSC will know exactly who the book was "checked out" to and that student will be required to pay for its replacement.
