Firefighters in Owensboro have struggled to put out a warehouse fire on the citys east side. They got the call about 2 oclock Friday afternoon and quickly went to River City Industrial Service, a cardboard warehouse. Shortly after, the flames were about 25 to 30 feet in the air. The blaze went from a one-alarm to a three-alarm fire, forcing firefighters to call for back-up. One of their first priorities was to protect neighboring homes and businesses. A few of those homes have suffered heat damage and a few yards were burned. There were 6 trucks and 25-30 firefighters on the scene. A witness says some employees accidentally started the fire and unsuccessfully tried to put it out.
