Schnitker coming to USI

Updated: January 7, 2009
Tyson Schnitker is finally going to play basketball for USI, just not until next season. The former Indiana State Sycamore guard had planned to transfer from the Division I Missouri Valley Conference school to the D II Eagles last year. But, Schnitker chose to concentrate on his undergraduate studies at Indiana State instead, when he had a problem transferring some credit hours. That year away from the court didn`t lesson his interest in USI. Schnitker stayed in contact with Eagles` head coach Rick Herdes and told Herdes on Thursday night that he was ready to come to the West side and help USI compete for a National Championship in the 2007-08 season. Schnitker will graduate from Indiana State in May with a degree in Business Education. He`ll get his masters at USI while playing for the Eagles next season. Schnitker, a 6-1, 180 pound guard will have one year of eligibility. He`ll join current juniors Kenny Page and Kenny Love in the USI backcourt.
