The Cold War is over, but the Doomsday Clock ticks on, and, it could move closer to midnight today.

The clock was created back in 1947 as a symbol of how close the world is to nuclear disaster.

Today, we'll find out whether the clock moves closer to or further from midnight.  It could also stay right where it is, at six minutes to midnight.

Back in 1953, it got as close as 11:58, after the u.s. and soviet union tested thermonuclear bombs within months of each other.  And in 1991, the minute hand was moved to its furthest point from midnight, when, the two countries signed the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty.
