CORYDON - The Corydon city council voted Thursday night to schedule a hearing aimed at removing mayor Larry Thurby from office. The hearing is scheduled for May 31st.

Tempers flared from both sides on the council and in the gallery. The proceedings were interrupted a number of times through the night by outbursts from council persons and members of the public.

Thurby is accused of mis-using city funds and abuse of office. They are accusations the mayor denies.

One source, close to the investigation in to the mayor's dealings, tells Eyewitness News exclusively that she has received death threats. She told me a man threatened to put a bullet through her head and rape her first.

That source says a police report has been filed. Eyewitness News could not independently verify that by air time.

The name of the alleged victim is being withheld as she fears retaliation.
