Indiana Encouraging Students to Take Part in Summer Academics

By: Web Producer
Updated: June 11, 2012
This summer the state of Indiana is encouraging parents to enroll their kids in summer programs to keep their brains active while classes are out of session. The website is called know How2GoIndiana.org. It's sponsored by Learn More Indiana and was started 10 years ago to help students K-12 prepare for college.

The website helps parents find summer camps, internships and other academically driven programs. Parents and students can also find classes to help them find the right college and prepare for the costs. The state program's main goal is to keep students on track throughout their entire education.

"There's nothing worse than returning to school in the fall and being behind and there are several things parents can do. If you're going to enroll your student in a summer program so one that's academically focused so they're having fun and learning," said Nicole Caan of Learn More Indiana.

Parents can log onto the website and use an interactive map that will tell you where the programs are located throughout the entire state. The website also features ideas for activities parents can do on their own with their children.
