We've heard the plea from Evansville police last week and now its echoing throughout the city's streets. Evansville community leaders say they are fed up with the crime happening in the city. Evansville's branch of the NAACP is now joining a murder victim's mother who wants justice in the death of her son, Derrick "Brian" Jackson. She says the man who is on trial deserves a harsher punishment. Richard Dulin is facing charges of attempted armed robbery of Jackson. The alleged incident occurred  just a few weeks before Jackson was murdered. Bridgett Tate says she's promising her son that justice will be served. But she's facing a tough challenge, she says she has very little help from the public.
We know violence isn't the answer but Tate says silence isn't either. Jackson's murder happened in the 500 block of East Chandler back in October, no arrests have been made in the case. Richard Dulin is heading to trial for allegedly robbing Jackson a few weeks before he was killed, but Tate says she's sure Dulin played a role in her son's murder. Reverend Gerald Arnold with Evansville's NAACP wants the public's unwillingness to help law enforcement to stop. Arnold says he doesn't know who murdered Jackson, but he says somebody does and they should end their silence now. Tate says she wants a murder conviction and this armed robbery trial is just the beginning. It's a mother's fight, that's also a community's responsibility to do what's right. Dulin's trial is taking place this week, if convicted Dulin faces up to 20 years in prison.
