Whitney Ray

By: Beth Phillips
Updated: June 13, 2012

Whitney Ray is excited to be a part of the Eyewitness News team! A native of Evansville, IN, it's a natural fit to deliver the news in her hometown. Whitney is a graduate of Harrison High School (Go Warriors!) and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism from Indiana University-Bloomington in 2003.

Whitney is no stranger to Tri-State viewers, you may remember her as one half of the Daybreak anchor team (News 25) for nearly 3 years.

After welcoming her son, Wyatt in October 2011 with her husband John, Whitney returned to Eyewitness news to co-anchor with Brad Byrd in the evenings.

Whitney began her journalism career in Bowling Green, KY in 2004. She launched WBKO's MidDay Live and served as the show's host and producer. Being so close to Nashville, TN, Whitney was afforded several unique opportunities to be a part of some of country music's biggest events! Whitney co-hosted "Count Down To Country" live from the red carpet at the CMA Awards 2007-2009. And hosted MidDay Live from the CMA Music Fest 2007-2008.

Whitney attributes her fascination and dedication to the news industry to her mother, Laura Ray. Laura was a reporter for WEHT's "Newscenter 25" '83-'85 (Evansville). Whitney interned at WDIV in Detroit, MI under Anchor Emery King (2002).

When not at work, Whitney spends all her time with son Wyatt, husband John and dog Khloe! But she's known to mix in a good glass of wine, a little tennis and a lot of fun with more family and friends!

Whitney solo anchors First at 4, and co-anchors the 5, 6, 6:30 and 10 newscasts.
