Former Poseyville Clerk Treasurer Sentenced

Updated: June 22, 2012
The former Clerk-Treasurer of Poseyville enters a guilty plea to charges she ripped off the town.
Christina Lupfer pleaded guilty to forgery, theft, fraud, and official misconduct charges.  In return Special Judge Maurice O'Connor sentenced her to 180 days in jail, 3-and-a-half years on the Community Corrections program, and he ordered her to repay the money she stole.
Prosecutors say between 2008 and 2010 Lupfer wrote checks to herself and used the town's credit card for her own use.  She is accused of stealing more than $55-thousand before she was caught.
O'Connor says she must pay that back that money with 8% interest.
Prosecutor's wanted Lupfer to serve prison time, but O'Connor says his priority was to make sure Lupfer was able to pay back the money she stole.
