The school year is starting all around the Tri-State, and Evansville students are making their final preparations.  School supplies, new outfits and fresh haircuts are a must for many and it makes for a busy weekend for businesses all over the area.
The first day of school means, for many, the first time to see old friends after a long summer and fresh first impressions are important.  All the primping and purchasing has businesses rejoicing the return of the school year.
Many Evansville students and parents are counting down the days until the school year starts. And they're making some last minute purchases, too.  We caught up with Cynthia Heights Elementary third grader Madelyne Hanes while she gets a new hair cut for a new year.
And Madelyne isn't the only one.  Emporium Hair Salon in Evansville sees their client load sky rocket the week before school starts.  A National Retail Federation study shows back to school spending is up 14% this year. Which is one more thing business owners have to be thankful for.
Some Evansville high schools have already started school.  The first day for Madelyne at Cynthia Heights is Wednesday.
