Former Gallatin County Sheriff Must Be Re-sentenced

Former Gallatin County, Illinois, Sheriff Raymond Martin is headed back to a courtroom Martin was convicted and sentenced to two life in prison terms on several counts, including drug trafficking and tampering with witnesses.

A Federal appeals court says Martin must be re-sentenced because the judge who originally sentenced him used the wrong set of sentencing guidelines.

The conviction against Martin will stand.

A new sentencing date has not been set.
