New Ordinance Holds Property Owners Accountable For Underage Drinking

By: Michael C. Fehn
Updated: October 2, 2012
Property owners and residents in McLean County, Kentucky, may now be held responsible for allowing underage drinking on their property.

The McLean County Fiscal Court calls it a social host ordinance, which grants local law enforcement the power to cite and fine people for underage drinking.

Property owners would face a $250 fine for a first offense.  However, the ordinance would not hold property owners responsible if they are unaware of a party on their property.
