Fire Breaks Out at Mt. Vernon Business

UPDATE: Fire crews responded to a business fire in Mt. Vernon earlier this evening. Posey County Dispatch confirms firefighters rushed to G.A.F. Materials on the 900 block of Givens Rd. The Black Township Fire Chief says asphalt on the north end of the property caught on fire around 5:40 p.m. At least one employee suffered minor injuries and was checked out for possible smoke inhalation. Crews were able to extinguish the fire around 7 p.m. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.


Posey County Dispatch confirms a working fire G.A.F. Material Corp. in Mt. Vernon. The manufacturing company is located on the 900 block of Givens Rd. Dispatch says at least one person is being treated for smoke inhalation. We have a crew heading to the scene and will bring you more information as soon as possible.
