Lane Guilty Of Murder & Other Charges In 2010 Triple Shooting In Evansville

EVANSVILLE - The murder trial of Michael Lane, 25, ends with the jury handing down guilty verdicts on all counts, Friday.

It took the jury more than three hours to come to their decision.

Lane was found guilty of a triple shooting back in 2010 that killed Michael Hooper and wounded two others.

One of those survivors, now confined to a wheelchair, didn't want to speak on camera but he tells Eyewitness News he's happy justice has been served.

Lane's family wept as the guilty verdicts were read. Outside of the court room the scene was even more emotional.

Hooper's family also cried when they heard the verdict.

This isn't the first time both of these families have had to endure the pain of a trial. Lane's first trial ended abruptly on its first day after two jurors told the judge they could not make an impartial decision. The judge then had no choice but to declare a mistrial.

Defense attorneys declined to comment on the verdict.

I spoke to Lane's family outside of the court room and they were too overcome with emotion to speak to us on camera, but, they insist that some of the information put out by the media was incorrect and painted Lane in a negative light.

Lane will be back in court for his sentencing on November 8th.
