Jasper Police Investigate String of Burglaries

Jasper Police are investigating another business burglary. Police say within the past week, five businesses have been hit: Denny's Auto, Paul's Custom Auto, R & P Auto, Grand Rental Station, and now Schmidt Contracting on Maurice Street. Investigators say in each case either merchandise or money was taken. Schmidt Contracting says just after midnight, the thief jumped over the fence and got inside through a window, taking cash and 30 sets of silver coins.
"If they spent as much time trying to steal stuff and break in to places and they spend that time getting a legitimate job, they could have their life on the right track," Phil Schmidt said.
Police believe the crimes are connected. A $1,000 reward is being offered for any information that leads to an arrest.
