And with today's opening in Indiana, some of our neighbors in Kentucky are wondering what about them? Kentucky is re-designating many of its existing roads to interstate status for the I-69 project.
Some are hoping for bridge to be built across the Ohio River connecting I-69 in Indiana to the one in the Bluegrass State. Indiana Lieutenant Governor Elect Sue Ellsperman says continuing I-69 will be great for all states involved.
"First and foremost," said Ellsperman, "we have to do our part, which is to get this completed and get the segments completed through Indianapolis nd then absolutely working with our neighbors in Kentucky because the benefits are good for all of our communities."
Some say I-69 is moving quickly and fear the bridge will not be built until after the interstates are complete on both sides of the river.
