Name of Victim Released in Deadly Owensboro House Fire

An early morning fire in Owensboro on Wednesday has left one person dead.

According to Owensboro Police, the fire broke out just before 5:30 in the 2900 block of Tanglewood Drive.

Firefighters say the home was fully engulfed in flames when they arrived.  Once the fire was out, investigators say they found the body of 82-year-old Joan Payne. Authorities say she died of smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
