Powerball Jackpot Soars to Record $500 Million

In national debt terms, 500-million dollars is mere pennies.  But, in terms of a family of perhaps 4 or 5, making 40, 50, or even 60 thousand dollars a year, 500-million dollars is the answer to a lot of life's problems.

500-million dollars may be nothing more than a far-off dream for most, but, on Wednesday, a single $1 ticket could make those dreams a reality.  On Tuesday, Powerball officials announced the jackpot for Wednesday's drawing had reached the half-a-billion dollar mark, making it the largest in the game's history.

Should you manage to break all the odds and score the win, you will, of course, have a decision to make:  Do I take the full annuity over several decades, or escape with a lump sum of cash?  In many cases, that may not be such a difficult question to answer, but, with Wednesday's cash payout option at 327-million, nearly as much as the previous full jackpot record, the question may take a bit more pondering.

Either way, somebody stands to have their holiday season get a lot brighter come 10p.m. tomorrow night.

So are you planning to take the full amount, or the cash option if you end up with the winning ticket? Head to our Facebook page to give us your feedback.
