British engineer, Neil Papworth, was just 22 when he sent the first ever s-m-s or short messaging service from his computer to a friend's phone. The December 3rd, 1992 message read "Merry Christmas."
Papworth said in an interview, he didn't realize that text messaging would get as big as it is today.
The most frequent texters of today are those between the ages of 12-15, and weren't even born when the first text went out.
