One western Kentucky family is in shock after someone tied their dog to a truck and then dragged it along the road. This happened sometime Monday, and investigators have yet to make an arrest.

Bear is the lab and boxer mix that's still trying to walk normally. He's had an eventful 48 hours. We talked with his owners today who say after they couldn't find Bear Sunday night, they heard the story of a dog being dragged by a truck. As a precaution, they checked with the Daviess County Animal Shelter and immediately broke down when they found out the dog was theirs. Bear has roadburn on his paws and stomach. They say the crime happened near the Green River.

"The sweetest dog i've ever met," said Bear's owner Waylon Burch. "It's not vicious at all, and for someone to sit there and do that is like doing that to my son because I've had this dog since he was no bigger than a shoe."

Burch hopes he can be paid back for the hundreds of dollars he spent on Bear's medical treatment. The man interviewed by authorities faces a misdemeanor offense of 'torturing a dog'.

Comments

The dog was not "drug" or its injuries would be worse. I know the area, the man, and even was there when the Investigating Officer was speaking with him. Seems what really happened, what the investigator has determined happened and what the media is reporting are much, much different things.

This is when the punishment should be to tie the guy up who did it to a car, and drag him for a few miles at high speeds. I would if I was the dog owner.
