The Evansville-Vanderburgh School Corporation is recognizing one of its cafeteria workers for serving more than pizza and vegetables. Louise Kroger is the second recipient of the EVSC's Cause for Applause Award, which is a similar concept to 'Employee of the Month'.

Kroger is a cafeteria worker at Highland Elementary School, and her co-workers say in addition to her cheerful attitude. She goes above and beyond the call of duty by collecting aluminum cans, then using that money to help students pay off debts in the lunchroom.

"I just love working with kids," said Kroeger. "I love working in the EVSC. I love working in the cafeteria. It's just the right place for me to work, and I just enjoy it so much."

Co-workers say they don't think many of the students and parents kroeger assisted even knew they received the help.
