Eyewitness News on the scene of an accident between a train and a semi. Right now, part of U.S. 60 in western Daviess County is still closed. Crews on scene say the semi tried to cross the train tracks at Griffith Station Rd. and French Island Rd. around 8 p.m. and got stuck. The driver was able to get out and call 9-1-1 before the train smashed through the semi's trailer. Authorities did contact CSX, but the conductor was only able to slow the train down, not stop it. Crews are still working to clean things up. The truck was carrying empty glass Ragu jars. Deputies say it could be a few more hours before the road reopens to traffic, so avoid this area if possible.
