There could be big news for the Executive Inn of Owensboro. This comes after the building has sat empty for more than eight months. The mayor announced he will be holding a news conference at the hotel Friday morning. We know the city has been eying the property ever since it closed in June. In fact, Mayor Payne ran most of his mayoral campaign with the conviction that the city ought to own and lease the property. Back when the inn closed the city made a bid on the property, but was turned down by the hotels owners Marshall Investments. City and economic development leaders have tried to keep in touch with Marshall as they develop the downtown master plan. The mayors press conference will be in front of the Executive Inn at 10:00 a.m. For now officials are staying tight-lipped as to what the future holds for the citys purchase of this seventeen acre property.
