The snow plowers are working hard in Posey County. One area saw almost nine inches of snow. Many of the major Tri-State roads are finally clear, but there is one neighborhood in Posey County that has needed help with their roads during snowy conditions for years now. Today I road along with the driver who took the time to help out.
Almost a half foot of snow kept the Tri-State indoors Wednesday, and now many are ready to get back out, and its this guy who can help. "Plowing snow!" For eight years Thomas Neaveill has cleared the roadways in Posey County. Today he is putting in a twelve hour shift to continue to clear the road, but he says he's not tired he's just happy to help.
"People call in and say their road is covered. They need to get out and we go out and we get them out. Today we helped two or three trucks get out where the snow drift was," says Neaveill.
With a snow storm making it nearly impossible for many to leave their homes a guy like Thomas suddenly becomes high in demand. "We basically could not get out. This is really the first time they have come and plowed. We usually have to clear everything out ourselves, so it was really awesome to at least get out," says Beth Schmitt.
Living in Mars Manner during snow storms has residents like Beth Schmitt trapped in her own neighborhood. She says its been twenty seven years since her road has had someone like Thomas Neaveill come through. "It's really bad when the snow is on the ground when the school busses are coming through. They have to stop and try to get going again, it's almost impossible. There have been times that they have not even picked up the kids," says Schmitt.
A simple drive by from Thomas can make a major impact to many whether he knows it or not. "Snow is snow," says Neaveill. "An awesome Christmas present and happy New Years present that we can get out!"
Posey County received around nine inches of snow in some places, but after today most of the main roadways are clear for travelers.

I live in the W. Heaven Sub where most roads are hilly. There was a man with a John Deere that cleared most streets and some driveways. I wish I knew his name so I can thank him.
